WHY GIVE?

As a private, nonprofit organization, the Literacy Council of Montgomery Council relies on support from private and corporate foundations, state and local government, individuals, and local community groups. Because of their generosity, we are able to provide free or low-cost services that meet the unique needs of our adult learners.

The LCMC serves over 1,000 adult learners each year in our tutoring programs with the help of hundreds of volunteers. Our classroom-based programs serve an additional 300 – 400 students seeking more rigorous ESL instruction. A donation to the Literacy Council of Montgomery County is a sound investment. Your gift will make it possible for us to continue to offer high quality literacy programs in the future. All donations are tax-deductible.

Donating securities (stock) is simple and offers a number of financial benefits. If you’d welcome a tax break AND want to help the Literacy Council, please contact Pam Saussy, Executive Director, at 301-610-0030.

Planned Giving

Planned giving is a charitable contribution, immediate or deferred, that permits donors to maximize the personal and tax benefits of their gifts. Including the Literacy Council in your estate planning can help ensure that our work in the community continues in years to come. If you’d like to include the Council in your planning, there are ways to give which benefit both the Council and your estate. Some of your options include a living trust, bequest in will, real estate gift, retained life estate, charitable remainder annuity trust, charitable remainder unitrust, and pooled income funds. Talk to your financial advisor to learn more about your options.

We welcome confidential inquiries from you and your financial advisors, and encourage you to contact us so that we may fully understand how you wish your gift to be designated. Please contact Pam Saussy, Executive Director, at (301) 610-0030 for more information.
