I learned English 33 years ago in school, but I didn’t speak it until I came to the US in 2007. I work at CVS. No matter how hard I worked to communicate with the customers, they always have ‘question marks’ on their faces. Two years ago, one customer came to me and said, ‘You are not speaking English,’ before he walked out. I was lucky to get a tutor from Literacy Council months later. Now the customer says, ‘Your English is improving.’ My boss promoted me to a supervisor.
