Maribeth Hoath-Perez – Community Resource Manager

Since earning her M.S.W at UC-Berkeley, Maribeth has worked as a Social Worker in a variety of settings including the Oakland Catholic Worker House of Hospitality for Central Americans, the Chester County Hospital prenatal clinic for the uninsured, and the San Francisco General Hospital emergency room.  She has also volunteered teaching children with cerebral palsy on the Navajo reservation in Arizona, doing prison outreach in Tijuana, and serving as a health promoter for La Clinica del Pueblo.

In addition to doing Social Work, Maribeth has also taught English as a Second Language at The Language Project in Madrid, Spain and at the Instituto Guatemalteco-Americano in Guatemala City, Guatemala.  She is fluent in Spanish and has served as a Spanish Literacy teacher at La Casa Del Pueblo, an organizer for The Committee for Health Rights in Central America, an interpreter for political asylum interviews with the Catholic Charities Refugee Assistance Program, and a Spanish translator for CARECEN.

A witness to the impact that learning English has had on her husband’s life, Maribeth is dedicated to helping students grow educationally so they can become part of a vibrant Montgomery County.
