LCMC Statement on Recent National Events

August 21st, 2017

The tragic ethnically-motivated incident in Charlottesville last weekend and the ensuing reaction demonstrate the continuing need for appreciation and support in our country for people of all races, religions, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and languages. For more than 50 years, the Literacy Council of Montgomery County has proudly served the English language needs of students regardless of their background. Our multi-ethnic staff, board, and volunteer corps fully embrace and value the rich cultural diversity of Montgomery County. We will continue to be a resource for anyone who needs our services. In working to improve their English language skills, our students are reaching for the American dream, which will not be extinguished by hate or violence.

Thank you,
Literacy Council of Montgomery County, MD
