In Memory of Debbie Demske
The Literacy Council of Montgomery County and the community of adult learners that we serve lost a great friend and advocate with the death of Debra Nita Demske. Debbie passed away on April 17 in Montgomery Hospice’s Casey House with her mother and son Ben by her side. Debbie was a tutor and a member of the executive board with the Literacy Council and in both of these roles she was passionate and energetic. Her extraordinary compassion and commitment made her successful in a lifetime full of accomplishments. At the Literacy Council, she was loved by the students who were fortunate to have her as their tutor. As a member of the board, Debbie excelled in development, fundraising, corporate leadership, creative problem solving, event planning, and collegiality. All of us who knew Debbie or were helped by her dedication to adult literacy will miss her enthusiasm and passion. The board and staff of the Literacy Council will continue our work in memory of Debbie and her love for our mission and students.
With deep gratitude,
James J. Hastings
President, Executive Board
