Fall 2018 ESL Classes

July 6th, 2018

The Literacy Council offers a classroom program for adults who want to learn English.  We have classes for beginning, intermediate, and advanced learners. Classes are a total of 60 hours. We offer Morning, Evening, and Saturday Classes. Students may not miss more than 6 hours of class or they will be removed from the program. Classes are free, but students are encouraged to buy their books. Students must live or work in Montgomery County. Students in the ESL class program must be at least 18 years old and not enrolled in high school.

Please see the Fall 2018 Class Schedule and Registration/Testing Dates here (English version).

Note about Saturday Classes: We have ADDED a registration date for East County Regional Services Center’s Saturday classes – in addition to the July 28th option, students may ALSO register and test on August 11th, beginning at 9am, to take a class on Saturdays this fall at East County Regional Services Center in Silver Spring, MD.
Note about Evening Classes: We have CANCELLED the registration date for Rockville High School’s Evening classes on September 6th – students who want to take an evening class at Rockville High School this fall can ONLY register and test on Tuesday, September 11th beginning at 6pm.

We recommend arriving for your selected class’s registration date at least 30 minutes early.

PLEASE NOTE: Students must attend the registration date listed for the corresponding class they want to take. For example, A student who wants to take a morning class at Gaithersburg Library must register and take the test in the morning at Gaithersburg Library on the registration date and time listed for that class; registering and testing in the evening will place them in an evening class.

Registration and testing is first come, first served. We do not guarantee a spot in a class for every student who tests, as some students’ level of English proficiency may be too beginner or too advanced for our classes. If that is the case, we will refer them to a more appropriate program.
