Cindy Juárez-Choza – Director of Finance and Administration

Cindy first received her Bachelor of Science from the School of Public Health at the University of Maryland, majoring in Family Science. Her focus was on underserved families and this served as inspiration for her multifaceted career dedicated to serving her community. She realized that her areas of strength went further than direct service and that sustaining nonprofit organizations and their viability was a passion of hers. Once she received her Master of Business Administration, she began learning the invaluable aspects of maintaining nonprofit funding and fiscal social responsibility – a key aspect to continuing public service.

Cindy now has over fourteen years of experience working in nonprofit organizations in direct service and management capacities. Besides years of providing human services to families in Montgomery County, Cindy has spent several years working with the National Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health and also spent time providing job readiness, GED tutoring and re-entry tools to underprivileged adults in the Skid Row neighborhood of Los Angeles, a neighborhood with the largest population of homeless people nationwide.

As a Montgomery County native and the daughter of Salvadoran immigrants, Cindy is passionate and well versed in the needs of the ever evolving community she prides herself in being a part of. She uses this as fuel to continue her work empowering her community.

Cindy is in the office Monday-Friday from 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM. She can be reached at cindy@literacycouncilmcmd.org or (301) 610-0030, ext. 206.
