Arriving in the United States

June 20th, 2016

Two students were asked by their tutor to write about their experiences coming to the United States.

When I was on the plane I met new things, new people, all colors: white, black, light skin, dark skin I had never seen before. At immigration, they kept us for three hours. After that we went to the other gate to fly to Reagan National Airport in Washington, DC.

I came to the United States on September 7, 2007. My sister and her son came to meet us on our arrival at Reagan National Airport. I felt great when I arrived in the United States. My sister and her son gave us a big hug. After we went to the apartment my sister was renting for us. She is the best sister. I love her. After she dropped us off at the apartment, she went home.

The next morning she came back to pick us up to go somewhere to visit our family my mother first and then to see her husband’s office, other family. Then we went to the shop to buy something.

Now I have been in the United States 9 years. Thank you Lord.

I came to the United States in 1995. I came to the United States with my wife. When we arrived in New York JFK Airport, my brother greeted us.

When I arrived, I thought if I have a better job, I can care for my family better. I can bring my daughter to the United States to study.

My brother helped us find jobs. We lived in New York City with my brother.

I went to California in 1999. I had a better job. My daughter came to the United States to study. When the company I worked in closed I, came back East. I have lived in the United States for 20 years.

I am happy in the United States.
