EACH ONE TEACH ONE & & & The Literacy Council of Montgomery County, Maryland is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to helping adults in Montgomery County learn to speak, read, write and understand English. We train volunteers to tutor one-on-one or with small groups of students. Each year, the Literacy Council provides free tutoring to approximately 800 - 1,000 adults in Montgomery County. The Literacy Council, in conjunction with Maryland Literacy Works and the US Department of Education have implemented ESL classes that meet Maryland standards for adult education.
